ABOUT INTENSIVE IN-HOME CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES (IICAPS)
IICAPS help decrease the amount of time children spend in inpatient hospitals and residential facilities due to psychiatric and behavioral challenges.
IICAPS works with families and children to provide the skills and resources necessary to allow the child to stabilize at home. The team works in partnership with the family, collaboratively developing and implementing treatment goals to best suit the needs of the family.
IICAPS provides individual sessions with the child, the parents) and the family. Extensive case management services are also provided to help manage ongoing environmental stressors.

The Clinician provides intensive home based services to children at risk for psychiatric hospitalization. Services provided include individual and family therapy, parenting skills training, around the clock crisis support, extensive case management, and advocacy. IICAPS operates from a team approach and consists of a Clinician and Mental Health Counselor, both of whom participate in sessions and treatment meetings.
Participates in implementation of treatment plan, modifying as appropriate during the course of service; Services provided are in collaboration with DCF, schools, and other community based providers.
Team is responsible for attending Rounds and group supervision weekly and maintaining clinical documentation according to licensing, accreditation, Medicaid, and Yale requirements. Purposes of services are to stabilize the child in the home and transition to traditional outpatient services, improve family functioning, and connect the child with the community in a positive way.
There is expected consultation and coordination care with Psychiatric providers if appropriate. Must maintain productivity targets determined by Service and remain current on all model training requirements.
